Stroud Preparatory School

stroud01

Stroud in Romsey chose to support Sausage Tree as one of it’s 3 charities for the academic year in 2014/2015. They ran a variety of events including concerts, walks, a quiz night and a summer fair.  These events enabled them to raise £3214 for Sausage Tree. The children at Stroud voted to drill a new borehole in the Mfuwe area.  This would enable a ready supply of clean water and is essential in promoting a healthy community at the school. This project is currently underway.

The Kilimanjaro 6

Thank you to the Kilimanjaro Crew

In 2010 Erin Hurst got in touch and very kindly offered to do some fund raising. Little did we know that she would go on to climb Kilimanjaro with some friends, and raise a staggering £26,260. Incredibly they have donated all this money to the local community, and working with Sausage Tree, decided the funds should be used to build a dormitory at Mfuwe Day Secondary School. 48 boys moved in in January 2013 and were thrilled with their new accommodation and not having to share 4 to a bunk! This will make a significant difference to many young people in the years to come, improving the quality of life as they go through school. A huge thanks to Erin and her crew for their amazing support.

Valkyrie Festival organised by Rupert and Jo Spice

Valkyrie FestivalValkyrie Festival was an extraordinary extravaganza held in a beautiful park in the heart of Hampshire. Conceived and organised by Jo and Rupert Spice, it was based on the theme Nordic Mythical Beasts (Valkyrie being one of them). The event was held on September 22nd 2012. It started at midday with a mad sports day with over 50 participants. The evening was a fancy dress extravaganza with everyone taking fancy dress to a new dimension with the Nordic Mythical beast theme! Live music and a number of very cool DJs kept the party going until the early hours. There was also an amazing auction which helped raise £6,000 for three charities, one of which was Sausage Tree. It was a fantastic event which bought everyone together in a stunning setting in the countryside all in aid of three great causes. Huge thanks for their support!

Twyford Pre Prep

During the summer term of 2012 Twyford Pre Prep chose Sausage Tree as the schools chosen charity for the term. A sponsored walk and cake sale managed to raise just over £2500! The children then voted on what the funds should be spent on and chose to help furnish the newly built boys dormitory. 48 boys moved in at the beginning of January 2013. They are chuffed to bits as they are now able to have their own bed! Previously they were sharing 4 per bunk. This will have a huge impact on the many young people who will need to boarding accommodation to be able to finish school successfully – Twyford Pre Prep helped really helped to improve their quality of life.

Richard Masters

Richard MastersRichard Master’s brilliantly rode for Sausage Tree and one other charity in the London Prudential Ride this August. The ride is usually 100miles, starting in London and winding its way down to Surrey and back incorporating the Olympic cycle route. This year however, due to bad weather they cut out the 2 big hills and it ended up being 86 miles.

Richard nailed it in 5 hours in horrendous biking conditions and has applied to do it again next year so he can ride the 2 big hills! He raised over £1000 for Sausage Tree – Huge thanks – you are a star!
